What should I expect during my first session?
Therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes in length and provide an opportunity for you to get to know the therapist and for the therapist to get to know you. Traditionally, the first session serves as an intake to allow the therapist to gather a thorough bio-psycho-social-spiritual history and help you to identify your individual goals for treatment.
How much does a session cost and do you accept insurance?
The fee for a 45-50 minute session is $155. We do not participate with any insurance panels, as we do not agree with their intrusion into the client/therapist relationship. However, if you have insurance coverage and would like to self submit we can give you a weekly statement. To find out what your coverage might be, you can call your insurance company and ask “What is my coverage for outpatient mental health out-of-network counseling?”
Can you prescribe medication?
Our practice does not prescribe medication, however, we will work with you to find appropriate resources if medication management is desired. In addition to traditional therapeutic tools, we offer a range of holistic alternatives that many clients feel help offset the need for medication.
What is your policy for missed appointments, late cancellations, or arriving late?
Since session times are reserved exclusively for individual clients, missed appointments and appointments canceled less than 48 hours in advance for non-emergency issues will be charged the full session fee. Should a client arrive late the session will still need to end at the normal time in order to respect the appointments of other clients.
